French-to-English Translation for Track #2,
“Blanche Comme La Neige” (Snow White)

Translation by Christina de Souza, Feb. 2008

Once upon a time, there was a maiden, Blanche Neige, who was white as the snow and beautiful as daylight. One day, she fell asleep on a bed of roses and she looked so beautiful that three captains who came riding by all wanted to make love to her.

The youngest took her by her white hand and said, “Get up on my grey horse. I'm taking you to Paris. Eat and drink up because tonight you will spend the night with one of us.”

In the middle of the meal, the beauty fell dead and everyone cried, “Toll the church bells, bang the drums! The princess is dead at the age of fifteen!”

They put her in a tomb.

Three days later, her father walked by and Blanche Neige cried out, “Father, if you love me, open my tomb. Open my tomb! For three days, I pretended to be dead so that I would remain a virgin.”
