The Non-Linear Progression of Love
“Beautiful Love 2.0,” jazz duo recording, featuring internationally acclaimed jazz pianist, iconoclast, and Grammy nominee, Art Lande, and San Francisco Bay Area vocalist and producer, Christina de Souza, is now available on the independent Queen Crone Productions label at CDBaby.
Highlights of the recording are a rare, vocal rendition of “Autumn Nocturne”; “Blanche Comme La Neige,” a beautiful albeit gothic French folk song; a humorous de-arrangement of “Beautiful Love” with a rant about Internet dating; and Sting's “Lullabye for an Anxious Child.” “All the Things You Are” may be the only recording available with Art singing and “Chthonic” (google it) is an improvisation for mbira and voice in Cantonese. The Indian inflected interpretation of “Lazy Afternoon” is certain to inspire a contemplative state.
Here are the first reviews:
“Christina is the female Johnny Hartman. She's luscious, deep, and passionate.”—Cookie Marenco, five-time Grammy nominee and Gold Record producer
“The rants make Patricia Barber look like Candy Girl!”—Jason Martineau, composer and author
“Sweet, languorous, and funny.”—Eric Lipsitt, MD
